One of our beloved local Woodland Park Social Trails is in danger of being closed. Please take the survey below to help protect this.
The Background:
The King’s Crown Trail (also accessible by Factory Direct Carpet, and Bald Mountain on Rampart Range Road) goes through City Property, National Forest, and a large piece of private property (and spans Teller and El Paso County.) Most people think this is all National Forest, but it does include a 120 Acre Parcel that spans approximately 1.5 miles. The current owner seems to have been extremely generous for years to allow people to use the trails.
We are gathering usage data, community support, and potential donors in an effort to have the property purchased by a land manager who is willing and able to hold this property and keep it open for the public for generations to come. For Example: City of Woodland Park, County, Non-Profit Organization, Land Trust, Private Philanthropist, etc. We are already in conversations with multiple, but always welcome more contacts. The biggest challenge is funding, so please pass this survey along as a fund raiser may be required to make this goal a reality.
Important Note:
This area is a series of Social Trails not System Trails, meaning they are not recognized or maintained by land owners/managers, including the USFS. Please always respect Private Property and the Land Owners and Managers Rules and Desires, and as always, Leave No Trace.
