As a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization*, Teller Trail Team is here to serve our community.

Mission: To create, maintain, and advocate for better trails and outdoor recreation opportunities in and around Teller County, Colorado.

Behind The Scenes: What may surprise many people is that most “trail work” is actually behind the scenes advocacy and paperwork. Moving the dirt is the easy (and fun!) part. At Teller Trail Team, we are dedicated to doing the unseen work that makes the seen work possible.

Meet The Team

With the influx of residents and visitors in the past few years, Chris saw the writing on the wall that the current outdoor offerings and infrastructure would not be able to stand up in the long long. With his deep love of the outdoors, he founded Teller Trail Team to help care for what we have, and provide more opportunities to spread out the increased traffic to minimize impact while maximizing experiences.

While his first degree (Business Administration – University of Central Florida) and career involved Multi-Million Dollar Asset Management, Real Estate Investment, and Venture Capital, an injury led him to a new career in 2013. After none of the medical experts were able to help his debilitating back pain, he set out on a journey to learn how to fix himself instead. He traveled the country and studied under brilliant researchers, doctors, and leaders in both the Movement and Manual Therapy Industries, and was finally able to get back to his active outdoor lifestyle.

Chris then started The Movement Training Company, where he works with outdoor athletes to help them prepare their bodies to adventure forever. As a Sport & Orthopedic Massage Therapist and Functional Movement Consultant, he loves getting to help olympians to weekend warriors prevent injury, recover faster, and train better so they can continue to enjoy their time outdoors.

While his day job is centered around keeping people fit and functional to go on adventures, his non-profit work is focused on making sure they will always have places to go. Beyond Teller Trail Team, he also serves on the Woodland Park Parks & Rec. Advisory Board and the Board of Directors for Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance (PPORA) which is the State Regional Partner for El Paso, Fremont, and Teller County.

When he is not helping people live happier, healthier lives, you can find him rock climbing, camping, fishing, shooting his bow, or hiking with his wife and two kids.

Jerry has a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk Jayhawk) and worked almost 45 years in the natural gas pipeline industry. He is a
certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and also serves on the board of the Teller County Shooting Society and the Woodland Park Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

Prior to retirement and his move to Colorado, Jerry lived in the Houston, TX area where he was very active in the local running community. He was a long-time board member of the Houston Area Road Runners Association as well as the Houston Marathon Committee.

He is avid outdoorsman, loves to hunt, fly fish, hike and backpack and has complete the first 250+ miles of the Colorado Trail. He was also an avid Fourteener guy and has summited 35 different Fourteeners. By far his favorite hiking opportunity is walking out his front door and heading up to Bald Mountain via many of the Avenger Open Space trails. As a board member, he will use his outdoor experiences to help improve the hiking and trail opportunities for others.

Jerry and his wife Joy have resided in Woodland Park since 2018.

Jeff is thrilled to be a member of the Board of the Teller Trail Team. As a life-long lover of the outdoors, he believes strongly that trails, open space, and the wild places that make Colorado special are essential for building vibrant, healthy communities, fostering a sense of adventure, and creating deeper connections to the world around us.

Jeff holds a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from CU Denver and an undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon. In his career, Jeff has worked on a wide variety of park and open space projects including the legalization of the Manitou Incline, numerous open space acquisition projects, creation of the Legacy Loop trail in Colorado Springs, development of multiple park and open space master plans, and over $13 million dollars in successful grant applications for outdoor recreation and stewardship projects across Colorado. Helping to play a role in the acquisition and preservation of Woodland Park’s own Avenger Open Space has been a career highlight for Jeff.

A resident of Woodland Park since 2017, Jeff lives with his wife and young daughter
next to USFS lands and miles of trails. He currently serves as Chair of the Woodland
Park Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. In his free time, Jeff enjoys hiking, biking, fly fishing, and enjoying the outdoors with his family.

Former Board Members

Lynn Jones is the Owner/Co-Founder of two retail businesses in downtown Woodland Park: Colorado GearLab (est. 2018) and Zebz OutFooter (est. 2022). Lynn and husband George moved to Woodland Park in 2017 and launched both of these businesses to fill voids within the community for outdoor gear and apparel, and footwear and accessories. Neither has previous retail experience, but both understand the importance of investing in one’s community. Lynn also served as a member of the Woodland Park Main Street Board of Directors from 2018 – 2021 and worked as the Assistant to the Woodland Park Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors from 2017 – 2019.

Lynn enjoys hiking, especially the beautiful trails in Teller County, with George and their two pups, Miki and Buddy, and with their kids and grandkids whenever possible. The family also skis together and enjoys the tradition of running the annual Bolder Boulder 10K race each Memorial Day.

When the weather is nice, you might see Lynn walking to work on the sidewalk along Highway 24 into downtown Woodland Park. It’s a two-mile walk from home to the stores and she knows the value of staying active, even if it means squeezing in a walk to work while managing two stores and eight employees. Her philosophy is “do what you can, make every day count and embrace where you live.”
